A chook at the Mount Isa Show 2008. This was one of many animals at the show this year, more to come tomorrow.

Where?

On my trip to Brisbane I also visited this place. It is a large shopping centre in Brisbane, viewed from a different angle.

Sunset Bridge

This is a plaque near a small bridge over sunset creek. The bridge is nothing of note, but it still has this small plaque to remind those who care to look of it's origins.

Old Building

On a recent trip to the coast I went to Childers. This is a nice old building in the main street of Childers, now made into a bank.

Stacks In Reverse

If you look closely at the horizon here you can see the lead and copper stacks from behind. An unusual view to see the mine from the west.

Sybella Granite

An outcrop of Sybella Granite on May Downs. Sybella is the geological name.

Tree

A tree in the field of trilobites on May Downs.

Larger Trilobite

This trilobite is the largest I found, about 30mm wide at the head.

Trilobite

One of the trilobites I found. They are old and squashed in the rock, once sand and sediment, now shale.

Rocks

Painted rocks on May Downs Station west of Mount Isa. The owners are happy for you to visit and fossick if you contact them first. In this area you will find some remarkable little creatures called trilobites. More about them tomorrow.

In The Garden

This is the garden. A wonderful green oasis amongst the dirt and dust of nearby fields.
