Mooloolaba Morning

A morning view at the end of the rock wall at Mooloolaba Spit.

Forest Bathing

While paused on the Kokoda Challenge walk it was opportune to do some forest bathing amongst the chaos and effort of walking for 30km. The Japanese have a word for it, Shinrin-yoku.

Imbil Forest

Behind Kenilworth in Imbil Forest there was a Sunshine Coast Kokoda Challenge event. This was on the home stretch of the 30km event. It was nice to stop and admire the trees.

Ficus

A ficus grows from an old stump in the forestry near Kenilworth.

Dinosaur Fodder

The green feed on the ground at Winton would feed many a dionsaur, although it won't last long before it browns off.

Lift Off

The QANTAS DASH 8-400 lifts off over Brisbane on the journey to Longreach.

QANTAS Portal

A QANTAS Porthole Portal to another world. Or just a regular flight to Longreach, you choose.

Distant Whale

Here in the west Pacific Ocean just off Mooloolaba we are lucky to see Humpback Whales migrate north and then south again after the calving season each year. If you look really, really closely you will just make out one whale taking a breath and diving again (just right of centre and very near the horizon). I clearly need a high zoom lens to catch these creatures from a distance of 300m.

Maroochy River Bar

On such a calm day it was possible to cross the Maroochy River Bar into the Maroochy River. THis shot is looking back out to sea past pincushion to the East.

Busy Mudjimba Island

A busy day around Mudjimba Island. There are small boats everywhere, though hard to see in the wide angle photograph.

Moolooaba Coast

Looking back at the Mooloolaba Coast from just offshore. Spectacular calm day to be on the water.

Gheerulla View

A view from near the top of the bluff on the Gheerulla circuit overlooking the valley below. Spectacular.

Gheerulla Falls

Gheerulla Falls behind Mapleton is definitely one of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland's hidden gems.
