Donnybrook

My first trip to Donnybrook with the boat. It was a great spot. Take care, we saw a few dugong just up from the ramp and paused to watch, unfortunately could not get a photo as the water was dark and they surface so briefly.

Orchid

An orchid grwoing in a Moreton Bay Fig Tree. My mother attached this orchid to the tree many years ago and it has been slowly taking hold. This year was the largest bloom I have seen, most likely from the long wet seasons due to consecutive La Nina episodes.

Eumundi Markets

Last weekend I took my first trip to the Eumundi Markets at Eumundi. It's a nice place to visit for a couple hours.

Greenery

Walking back up from the base of the Kondalilla Falls you ascend these greenery adorned stairs. Ahhh, the greens of the forest are refreshing.

Kondalilla Falls

A visit to Kondalilla Falls a few weeks back in the rain was worth the odd leech. This is the tallest section of falls, a beautiful walk.

Wathumba Paradise

The west beach side of Wathumba Creek is a warm place to be be in a strong south easterly.

Low Water Wathumba

When the tide recedes the creek looks very different to the idyllic aquamarine paradise of high water. However, it allows you to step right off your transom and walk ashore to explore.

Green And Blue

I took a quick trip up to Wathumba Creek further north along the K'gari west coast. The last time I visited here was in the 1980s when my parents owned a small runabout and took au all camping. It was very special to return again after so long in my own boat, especially on a high tide when the water is so turquoise.

Moon Or Earth?

Old Boot

This old boot was next to a track. It looked like it had had a good life before turning into a piece of natural installation art.

Electric Dingo

The dingos need to be kept out of the major camping areas, so this is the solution. A large fence and a grid with an electrified section since they worked out they could step across the bars.

Maheno

Exploring K'gari by car gives you access to many more amazing sights. This is the wreck of the Maheno on the ocean beach side.

Twilight colours keep on coming as the reflected sky glow darkens.
