Murrili Meteorite

Not behind yesterday's door specifically, but in the Planetary Science Department are some amazing objects under research. This is one fragment of the Murrili Meteorite, famous because it was the first meteorite fragment tracked and found with the Desert Fireball Network of cameras run by Curtin University.

The sky was on fire last night as I went to the observatory to take a star tour. Fantastic sunsets.

Comet and Anti-Tail

Comet A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS as seen through my trusty old TeleVue60is f6 refractor. This is 71 5sec subframes taken at iso6400 on an Olympus EM1 mk3 Astro and processed in the open source Siril software. You can see the anti-tail fanning and extending out in front of the nucleus. A little noisy in the image, but I'm happy with it for now.

A shot of Comet 2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS on our first cloud free horizon since moving to the evening sky. It is not as bright as it was in the morning sky, but hopefully will brighten when the moon is below the horizon in a week from now.

Theodore the therpod spots something unusual in the sky above the Jump-Up Dark-Sky Sanctuary near Winton. It is of course Comet 2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS gracing the pre-dawn sky with a its wonderful tail.
