Morning Refraction

The land masses of the NSW North Coast as seen across the Pacific Ocean from Byron Bay. What is remarkable about this image is that some of the land masses appear to be floating above the ocean surface. This is an optical illusion caused by the refraction of light due to total internal reflection off the ocean's warm surface air layer. Physics is everywhere.

Before Sunrise

While waiting for Australia's first sunrise I snapped the Byron Lighthouse shining its light across the beach.

Cloud Catcher

This is what looks like a mountain range casting some clouds out to sea. It is the Northern Rivers section of New South Wales as seen From Byron Bay. One can just make out the outline of Mount Warning on the clouded horizon.

Geehi Flats

The old hut at the Geehi Flats Camping area is now a beautiful picnic hut standing in the shadows of the western fall of the Snowy Mountains.

I recently awoke to this view at Geehi Flats Camp Ground in the Snowy Mountains National Park.

Hello Koalas

This is Oceania, one of the Hello Koalas on a public art trail around Port Macquarie NSW. If you get the chance you should definitely check them out, they are way cooler than Hello Kitty.

Dubbo

I visited Dubbo in central New South Wales and went for a walk along the Macquarie River. On the right you will notice some sand, that is Sandy Beach.
