The ferris wheel on the Geelong beach, was a good spot to stop in while waiting for the ferry to Tasmania for a recent holiday.

A total lunar eclipse last night on March 3 was worth a shot. Truly remarkable view from a dark sky.

Red Storm

An unusual red glow in a storm just before 10pm. A possible reflection from a fire below triggered by the lightning?

A burnt trailer left at a road side stop north of Winton. Most likely a tyre fire that ran out of control.

Hello Richmond. Long time no see. It must be nearly 10 years since I last visited the museum here.

Burning Horse

The Horsehead (Barnard 33) and Flame (NGC 2024) nebulae together with Alnitak. My best image so far of this wonderful region of sky. Taken with red, green and blue filters on a monochrome miniCam8. Also my first colour image from filters, possibly my first proper astrophotograph. It still needs more time and effort to develop into a propper image (if you go pixel peeking there is too much noise). But I am happy with this effort from my trusty old TeleVue60is refractor. And of course, the SetiAstro Pro processing software from Franklin Marek, best open source astro software on the planet.

New Year Fall

The new year rains also sent water off the edge of the Jump-Up and the Diamantinasaurus Falls once again flowed. I couldn't miss the chance to capture this one again.

Rockhole Falls

New Year's Day brought another downpour, 144mm of rain. And this time I made long walk in the rain and mud to the rockholes. At the end of the rockholes of course the water falls of the edge of the Jump-Up. So I had to capture this one first thing in the morning while the rain was still falling to maintain the flow.

Diamantinasaurus Falls

A wonderful Christmas present for Christmas morning on December 25, 2025. A large fall of rain allowed the falls to flow so I had to capture the event from the bottom of the falls, covered in water spray and mist among the cycads of the cretaceous garden.
