The Mount Isa Rodeo is in town and along with it comes the bright lights, sounds, rides and attractions of the sideshow.

The Mount Isa Rodeo Mardi Gras parade was led by the official mascot Chainsaw the bull and the Rodeo queens.

I've walked over this plaque on Rodeo Drive many times and never stopped to truly look till now. It turns out the footpath has many plaques dedicated to rodeo riders. This one is from 1960. I shall bring you some more of these plaques in future posts.

Campdrafting At Camooweal

At the Camooweal rodeo you can catch the spectacle of the Campdraft event where the guy on the horse tries to guide the cow around the gates in the correct order. The cow often wins and gets to go where it wants.

The rodeo has finished in Mount Isa for another year, and the rodeo grounds lie empty and quiet till the next event.

Bull rides can be more dangerous than the broncos and are the main drawcard for the crowds.

The bronco rides at the Mount Isa Rodeo are always action packed. This awkward position for horse and rider must have been difficult.

The Mount Isa Rodeo was a busy weekend for the town with people coming from all around to see the action. This was part of the rope and tie event.
