Went for a drive down a very rough old track and found this truck. We thought maybe all she needed was some fuel to kick it over. However, this poor old truck had seen much better days. They sure don't make trucks with such beautiful complex steel curves any more.

On the trip to Cairns and back I stopped briefly on my return through Richmond. This wonderful sunset over the lake greeted me for the stopover.

Crystal Cascades

The natural beauty around Cairns doesn't end at the beach. Many streams provide a cool respite from the sun and humidity on a warm day. Here in the rainforest just behind the coast is a place called Crystal Cascades where the water is crystal clear and it cascades down the mountain stream through refreshing swimming holes.

Angel Fish Lagoon

The swimming lagoon on the waterfront in Cairns. The Angel fish make a wonderful feature of the clear sandy pool.

Cardwell Palms

The wonderful tropical palm waterfront of Cardwell.

Hinchinbrook Island

The spectacularly beautiful Hinchinbrook Island just north of Townsville. If you are driving northward, you must stop at the Hinchinbrook Lookout and take the short walk to see this wonderful vista.

Lucinda

On my drive to Cairns for a wedding I stopped in at Lucinda. It is one of the landmarks I remember hearing about on the ABC Radio weather reports I used to keenly listen to as a young windsurfer on the the coast.
