Flinders Street Station

I took a quick walk from the Dark Sky Symposium down Swanston Street to see Melbourne's Flinders Street Station. A nice old building.

Murchison Meteorite

Two pieces from the Murchison meteorite that fell in central Victoria in 1969. This meteorite was very special because it contained many complex and organic molecules that can be the building blocks of life itself.

Henbury Meteorite

One of the pieces of meteorite from the Henbury impact field. THis one is held at the Melbourne Museum. It was good to see a piece of the impactor after seeing the crater field many times in the past.

A destination on my bucket list for quite some time finally ticked off. I went to See Australia II, the America's Cup winning boat, the first non-US boat to claim the cup in 1983. I still remember the hype on TV around the Ben Lexcen designed wing keel.

Just north of Cape Mentelle is this beautiful beach. And what a day it was to see it, calm as a pond.

North of Margaret River are the limestone sea-facing cliffs of Cape Mentelle. And just north of here... You'll have to wait to see in tomorrow's post.

Margaret River

The Margaret River proper. Summer is the dry season for south west WA, so the river is not flowing and typically the entrance silts up every year making a walk to the northern side possible.
