Lake Julius

The Lake in all its glory. Full to the brim and surrounded by blue and green.

Leichhardt Crossing

The Leichhardt River crossing below the Lake Julius Dam wall. Yes, the little Suzuki made it through this and back in one piece. Flat tyre was an added bonus for free.

Australia Day

I went for a drive this Australia Day to Lake Julius. The dam is at 100% capacity and slightly overflowing as you can see.

Song On A Signal Box

A painted signal box at Alexandra Headland on the Sunshine Coast. This is a very simple message and also the name of a Paul Kelly/Kev Carmody song.

Melbourne Visit

During the new year break I visited Melbourne. This was heading onto the Hume Highway northbound from the city. The windscreen needed cleaning.

Mount Isa Water Supply

The lake Moondarra water supply is well below the overflow wall as seen in the top left of this image. If you look closely you'll see some green grass growing at the base of the overflow.

Road Trains

A sign indicating the size of what are possibly the longest road-legal road trains in Queensland. This can be found about 20km south-east of Cloncurry.

Rest Stop

The morning view at a rest stop just south of Winton. I had all this space to myself, and a beautiful blue sky to wake up to.

Rearview Mirror

The view forward and back in a green and drier part of Queensland. This is on the road from Longreach toward Winton.

Flood Aftermath

Evidence of the flooding near Alpha in Central Queensland. While stopped at some road repair works I got this photo to show how high the water had been where I was now parked.

A surf-ski rider at Mooloolaba takes advantage of some large swells at the mouth of the swollen Mooloolah River.

Flooding

Some of the minor flooding that occurred in Beerwah during the downpour that drenched three-quarters of the state of Queensland. In one 24 hour period Beerwah received 308.5mm of rainfall, cutting the road linking Beerwah to Kilcoy.

A Paddling
