Ahhh, the serenity of a quiet waterhole under the shade of a coolabah tree. I want for a swag and a billy.

Stars Align
This is a preview of a photo I've been waiting for ever since I bought my first wide angle f2.8 lens several years ago. The conditions tonight have almost come together perfectly. First, there needs to be very recent rains to make the falls flow, then you need a cloudless sky to see the stars, and then, you need a quarter Moon to illuminate the cliffs and waterfall. Only one of those conditions is missing here, the Moon. However, it may be a once in a lifetime opportunity to get the conjunction of those conditions. Tonight, this photo came close.

Hello Koalas
This is Oceania, one of the Hello Koalas on a public art trail around Port Macquarie NSW. If you get the chance you should definitely check them out, they are way cooler than Hello Kitty.

Comet Lovejoy
On the long drive back to Mount Isa I stopped overnight at Barcaldine and snapped a few rounds at this comet. It is Comet Lovejoy C/2014 Q2. If you squint at it, you can just see the tail above the noise, but only just. I need more exposure time, use of a tracking mount and a cooled CCD to get something better. Look out for another attempt at capturing this comet in the near future.

Hydrogen Hyundai
I saw the first 100% hydrogen fuel cell car in Australia, the Hyundai ix35. I was even lucky enough to get a ride in it. It was amazing, like sailing down the road with nothing but the noise of the wind and rubber on bitumen.

Give Me A B!
Give me an R, give me an I... It eventually spells Brisbane. Placed here for the G20 games (I know, they weren't really games.), Brisbane hasn't seen such big letters since Expo 88 back in 1988.
