Sauropod Emu

The sauropod and the emu wander above the Jump-Up Dark Sky Sanctuary near Winton in outback Queensland.

Milky Way

The Milky Way and the Emu stretching through it are truly magnificent sights to see under a dark sky.

Emu Rising

The Emu In The Sky rises above the horizon just before the winter solstice in the southern hemisphere.

Emu Head

A view of the Head of the Emu In The Sky (aka Coalsack nebula) and the Southern Cross (Crux).

South Celestial Shot

The Southern Cross and Pointers with the Large Magellanic Cloud. The Small Magellanic Cloud is hidden on the horizon in the glow of the ever growing suburbs of Brisbane. The head of The Emu is also visible (aka the dark Coalsack nebula).

Emu Egg

A Devil's Marble as an Emu egg, under the Emu in the sky of the ancient Milky Way.

Emu Rising

The Emu in the sky rises to walk the dry land once more. This is a star formation recognised only by the Indigenous people of Australia, the only continent that has emus.
