Old Navigation Tower

Old Navigation Tower Looking out to see you can make out the reamins of an old navigation tower. The only thing left are the foundation piles that were driven into the sand to stabilise it. Erosion over the last 30 years has brought this tower to the beach front, when it was originally in the middle of the island.

Perspective

Park Street

Some perspective of a small highrise building. These things really are tall. Imagine the Burj Khalifa standing next to this in Sydney, it would dwarf this little baby tower.

Looking up

Looking up the centre of the tower. If you look closely you can see blue sky through the small triangle at the top.

Repeater Tower

IMGP4596

A radio repeater tower north of Mount Isa. It's very tall. If I'd had a tape measure and an inclinometer with me, I would be able tell you how tall it was.

Telstra Tower

Telstra Tower

I was lucky enough to go on a trip up a large hill just outside of town yesterday evening. This is one of the photos I took as I was leaving, I think it is the local Telstra communications tower, however, my phone indicated only 50% signal, I suspect that this close to the tower the signal is not optimal.

Ripples In The Air

IMGP2249

A tower sprays invisible signals into the sky. This photo was taken on a recent trip to the International Space Station as we passed over the Pacific Ocean.
(PS this is not really a photo taken from the International Space Station. However, with a little imagination it could be.)
