Grand Teton Airstrip

From the eclipse trip of August 2017. This was my first view of the Grand Teton Mountains from the Jackson Hole Airport.

Verandah Out The Back

At the old Bladensburg Homestead you will find this wonderful view from the verandah out the back. I was expecting an old rocking chair and a few more gum trees. But they did have a sheep or two and some kangaroo for sure.

Wide Brown Land

This is definitely the terrain of the wide brown land for me. On the far horizon you can just see the Bladensburg Homestead. I too am homesick for this beautiful outback country.

Looking Back On 11 Years

Today is the date of the very first post on this blog that I started 11 years ago. You can see the post here Hello World Post. The shadows and the mirror looking back make the perfect reminder for me of the journey this blog has taken me on, and the journey I've taken as I put the blog together. Never did I once imagine I'd still be blogging 11 years after I began. Thanks for all the feedback from you wonderful readers out there that helped keep me going. Have a great day - Grant.

Cairn

Just outside the Bladensburg National Park entrance is this cairn of stones. It has a lot of history and apparently was the location of a shearers strike that in part lead to the formation of a political party. The unusual things you find out west in the bush.

Occupied

The Pond at the University of Queensland with the Water Fountain. A place to ponder and wander as the signs say.

A road side fitness stop in Tambo where you can get some reps in between driving shifts.

Trouble With Trouble

A traveller went to a lot of trouble to put this engraved tag here on a post at a Rest Stop West of Barcaldine. Maybe they even had fun doing it.

Red Rover

Camped in the Red Rover just outside Barcaldine. A new internal red LED light installation helps to preserve night vision for camping and astronomy.

Bladensburg Camp

The Bough Tree Camp site in Bladensburg National Park. This National Park is just outside Winton in Outback Queensland and a cool waterhole to camp by is always welcome.

Matilda Centre

The new Waltzing Matilda Visitor Centre in Winton is coming along nicely as it is prepared for the opening celebrations in April at Winton's Way Out West Festival.

Dinosaur On The Loose

Lookout! There's a dinosaur outside! No, it's OK, it is only bronze. Can't hurt you at all. It is a very cool dinosaur called Banjo, the Australovenator Wintonensis at the Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum at Winton.

Driving

Saturated

A saturated Frangipani flower on a cooler, rainy day last week.

Araucaria

These Pines are Araucaria bidwillii and Araucaria araucana left to right respectively. More commonly called the Bunya and Monkey Puzzle. They belong to the same Araucaria family as the Wollemi Pine.

Frangipani

A sight I have not seen in Mount Isa very often, a soft rain blanketing the gardens and giving the plants a pleasant soak. This Frangipani flower is enjoying the abundance of water to quench its thirst.
