The view from the top of a small range of hills halfway between Gunpowder and Kajabbi. The terrain is green and lush after the recent wet.

Old Car

The old car on the old road to Kajabbi trick. I guess it just didn't go any more and this was it's last destination. Surprisingly, the chrome bumper is in very good nick, that stuff could survive for centuries.

Kalkadoon

A unique war memorial to the Kalkadoon people who gave their lives defending their land on Australian soil near Mount Isa.

Ridge

A prominent ridge beside a track halfway to Kajabbi. There is some amazingly wonderful scenery around here, but often you have to go off the beaten track to find it. Next time I'll bring you a photo from the top of this ridge.

Melaleuca

On the banks of the Leichhardt River are the biggest Melaleuca (paperbark) trees I have ever seen.

Didgeridoo

This is the site of my first didgeridoo gathering just a few minutes from Kajabbi. Here, with the help of some knowledgeable people, I cut down some branches that were successfully turned into musical instruments.

Dry Riverbed

Crossing the dry Leichhardt River into Kajabbi. A wide stony river, only flowing in the wet of course.

Road

A section of the road heading to Kajabbi. There is is plenty of scenery around this area and it's a good drive. There are also plenty of 4wd tracks to explore on the Old Mount Isa Kajabbi road.

Kajabbi Via Lake Julius

Last weekend I made a trip to Kajabbi. I drove the short way, which means about 120km of dirt road. Much of it corrugated, with some sections of large bulldust holes. It is currently in very good condition due to a lack of rain and easily passable in a two wheel drive car.
