Rocky
An unusual rock on the ground. I was hoping it may have been a meteorite because it had a smooth fusion like crust, was unusually dense and was significantly magnetic. It turned out to be a rather ordinary haematite.

The remains of a brick stack at the abandoned town of Selwyn. Built in 1912, this stack has not been lucky enough to survive to 2014.

At Rest
In the Kuridala cemetery there are many graves, both marked and unmarked. There is a visitor's book with stories of the causes of death. In a mining town in the 1900's there were of course many gruesome deaths.

Stack 1913
This elaborate stack at Kuridala was built in 1913 as it proudly states. And 101 years later it still stands.

Heritage
Only in the outback could you get heritage listing for a degraded mining waste site and a hole in the ground. I guess it means they don't have to clean anything up. A bit sad really.

Something Floral
Floral displays are brief in the desert climes around Mount Isa. These pussytail flowers are some of the longer lived flowers.
