Perigee Moon

The Moon from Mount Isa. This was the closest the Moon gets to Earth in 18 years due to it's elliptical orbit and various precessions. The cloud made for an interesting photo on dusk as the Moon rose.

Friday At The Lake

A quiet Friday evening at the lake. Beautiful reflections, some shade and a relaxing spot to sit on the grass.

Overflow

Lake Moondarra is full to the brim and overflowing. Unfortunately this is as close as you are now allowed to get to the overflow stream so I can't bring you a photo of the white water streaming over the wall.

Warrigal Torrent

A torrent of water streams into the Warrigal Waterhole during a rain storm. Mount Isa currently has a monsoon depression crossing the region causing a great deal of rain and making it possible to see some of the features around town in a different state to the usual trickle.

A stream to cross on the way to Warrigal Waterhole. Yes, the Suzuki crossed too after I walked it first and got my knee-caps wet.

Staurolite Crystals

Staurolite crystals (iron aluminium silicate) lie scattered on the ground near Mount Isa. You can find a rare form called a Maltese Cross if you find two of these crystals that have formed crossing each other at right angles.

Four Wheel Driving

One of the attractions around Mount Isa are the plentiful locations to take an off-road trip in a 4wd vehicle. Sometimes 3 wheels will do.
