Kite Surf Mecca

The surf in the Caloundra Bar is a Kite Surf Mecca when the wind blows from the south east at about 15-20 knots. This mob of kite sailors is having a blast on a great day.

Looking Skyward

A very cool bronze statue of Konstantin Tsiolkovsky looking skyward at the Brisbane Planetarium. Tsiolkovsky is considered the founder of cosmonautics and human space flight.

Planetarium

The Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium at the base of Mt Coot-tha in the Brisbane Botanic Gardens.

Smartphone Astrophotography

This photo was taken with a smartphone looking into the eyepiece of a telescope (afocal). The phone is not smart enough to capture this photo by itself. The crescent moon was a pretty sight among the thin cloud from the top of the Maleny range.

Brisbane

Mangrove

A beautiful mangrove stands alone in the sand at low tide on the fringes of Tin Can Bay.

Poverty Point

A view from the Poverty Point Campground on the southern edge of Tin Can Bay. Far from being in poverty, these are million dollar views that can not be purchased for any price.

Noosa River Source

Near the source of the Noosa River it is just a small tannin stained stream. This is at the Noosa River crossing on the Cooloola Coast Way in the Great Sandy National Park.

Tinbeerwah Tree

This large tree can be found in the carpark at the Mount Tinbeerwah lookout. It is very large and on a lean having suffered some kind of damage to the trunk in its early years. However, it has grown tall and strong.

Harry's Hut

A recent trip up the Cooloola Coast took me past Harry's Hut on the Noosa River. This was the trail head for taking highly prized timber and logging out of the Noosa River area back to Brisbane.

Fog

The mist and fog rising and evaporating on a cool damp morning over the Beerwah Forestry plantations.

Distant Shores

The view of the Pacific Ocean from the headland at Double Island Point on the Cooloola Coast. I never tire of this view and every time I see it I feel the sea and distant shores are calling.

Bribie Picnic

A picnic lunch at the beach with family is a great way to spend the second afternoon in 2018. This was at Ocean Beach Bribie Island.
