Desert Crab

One never tires of finding the unexpected. In this case it is a crab, living in a small waterhole that only has surface water for about two months each wet season. Clearly, there is permanent water here deep down in the sand that sustains this crab during the dry.

Sunset Lake Rays

Last night's sunset at Lake Moondarra showed some spectacular rays across the sky due to some distant clouds casting shadows through the dusty air.

Frog Falls

Another new frog I had not seen before at the Rigby Falls gorge. This is a true froggery of species, possibly a Northern Snapping Frog.

Rigby View

A view from the top of Rigby Falls down into the valley below where a shower dampens the once dusty and dry soil. There is so much green out here after only a small amount of rain.

Monochrome

A black and white photo of the eclipse at approximately 2880mm focal length using TeleVue power mate adapters. This time you can see the best contrast and view of the group of small sunspots. Some thin cloud is also visible drifting across the frame.

Yellow Star

The stereotypical colour of our yellow Sun during the eclipse last week. It looks like an orange with a perfect bite taken out by the Moon. There are even a couple of very small sun spots visible in this photo.

Fijian Fundraiser

A Fijian fundraising event at the Buchanan Park Sports Complex to support the recovery after cyclone Winston hit. Mount Isa has a large Islander community and the support from everyone in Mount Isa ensured a big turnout for the event.
