Earth's Sun shines through a cut out sign of a Sauropod called Elliot in the Australian outback. The Sun has seen many species come and go on this planet.

Dirt n Dust Festival

The swim leg of the Julia Creek Dirt'n'Dust Festival for 2013.  The creek was a little shallow and the swim was reduced to 400m. The sight of lifeguards in red and yellow in the desert beside a creek made me laugh.

Dinosaur Stars

Just near Winton in outback Queensland, a dinosaur once more walks the land under the ancient stars above.

Extra Vehicular Activity

One does not need to go into space to go for a space walk. An EVA can be done right here in Mount Isa at the Razorback ridge. One day I might get capable enough to climb this.

Never Never Safari

You can find this piece of Australian history in the Walkabout Creek Hotel at McKinlay, 1595km north-west of Brisbane. You may remember the movie Crocodile Dundee. Part of the movie was filmed here, and a bit further down the road at the Blue Heeler Hotel in Kynuna.

International Space Station

Every day the International Space Station passes over many locations on Earth. Yesterday morning it passed over Mount Isa before sunrise, like many occasions before. What is so special about this time? This time Col. Chris Hadfield is aboard. He is Canadian and the current commander of Expedition 35 aboard the ISS, and he is the first prolific facebooker from the ISS. Sending us photos of Earth and more from on board. Fifty

A weekend paddle at the lake revealed the water level is now just under 50% capacity. Hopefully we get some rain soon, as the year is very long and the next wet season is not until November.

I'm not sure if this gate is meant to keep dinosaurs in, or out.  Either way, it's a very cool gate.

This dinosaur would make a short meal out of me.  This is Australovenator Wintonensis, affectionately known as "Banjo", because it was found near Winton.

Australian Age Of Dinosaurs

An Easter trip to Winton took me to this wonderful place on a jump-up just south of Winton. I highly recommend a visit when you can.

Bosom Rock

In a large paddock approximately 100 kilometres north of Winton you will find this painted rock. It reminds me of the song by Cornershop, Brimful of Asha, which has the line, "everybody needs a bosom for a pillow", every time I drive past. Click here to see the front of the rock.
