To the East of Beerburrum you can make out Moreton Island in the distance across the bay called Moreton Bay of course.

Monkey Puzzle Moon

The Moon behind a Monkey Puzzle Pine (Araucaria araucana). Indeed it was a puzzle for us monkeys to get there and walk on the Moon. We solved that puzzle exactly 50 years ago today with the Apollo 11 Saturn V rocket.

Moon Trees

A picture of the Moon above some very earthly trees. This weekend marks 50 years since the Apollo 11 Eagle Module landed on the Lunar surface and people stood there for the very first time.

Sandy Ride

One can even ride a bike on much of the sand flats. I even remember seeing land sailers back in the day, although it would have been a bit of a bumpy ride with all the stingray holes in places.

Pyramidal Roots

A completely different stand of mangroves with pyramidal root structures, also at Tin Can Bay.

A mangrove tree sits patiently on the fringe of the shallows at Tin Can Bay.

Low Tide

The low tide goes a long way out across the shallow sand banks on Tin Can Bay.

Entrance

The entrance to the tunnel. This tunnel in Dularcha National Park curves through the hill so you cannot see the other end till about halfway through.

Tunnel Vision

Dularcha National Park

I remember first hearing about this place back in the very early 90s when a mate told me had visited an old railway tunnel near Landsborough. I never knew it had a name or a National Park for that matter till two years ago. Now, I've finally visited, and will return for some more adventures on bike and foot.
