Cu

Patina

This rock is just oozing copper. You can see why this town is so wealthy because of this remarkable stuff. The rock even has patina on it. Mt Isa is built around the copper mine here, and to a smaller extent, lead and zinc. The extraction process is quite complex and the end result is a beautiful shiny copper. Many scientists and engineers are employed improving the methods to get the minerals out with minimal harm to both environment and budget.

Hello Outback Rover,
Have just discovered your site. Fantastic photos of Mt Isa. I've never been and I live in Adelaide! Gives a good impression of the town and this photo of copper (Cu) is just beautiful. Are you a mining man?
Pop over to Adelaide DP and meet us.

PS - I have a sister who works in Broken Hill - in the lab.

No mining man is me. I do have a history in science though. Education is my role now, maths and science. Been in town here only a few months, so I'm very new, there's lots to see and endless scenery around.

Bonjour, Monsieur Compass man. Your photos are excellent. We will no doubt learn more about The Isa from now on. Many thanks for your kind visit here earlier. I look forward to the day I can visit your fair city and smell the air!
