Wildlife

Oxyuranus microlepidotus, Inland Taipan (Fierce Snake)

Returning after a sunset photography session I was walking along a little used 4wd track when I came across this snake. It turns out it was an Inland Taipan, the snake with the world's most toxic venom. It was a very shy creature and I gave it plenty of room and waited patiently for it to move across the road so I could pass. (CORRECTION: this is actually a black-headed python, thanks to Matt www.flickr.com/photos/mattsummerville/ for pointing this out)
